On Friday July a squad of 11 under 10 players left Jersey bound for Guernsey to participate in the annual Festival of Football held at Footes Lane.
The mood in the camp was positive and the aim of the weekend was to try and qulify a St Peter's side in the Shield knockout for the first time. Regretably this was not to be as the team finished 5th out of 10, one point behind the 3rd and 4th place teams which meant we had now entered the Plate Competition.
The quater final saw us beat a spirited Wanderers side 1-0.
In the semi final we met Grouville with whom we had played an absolute fantastic game earlier in the year which resulted in a draw. On this occasion, and with Grouville playing the better football, we came out 1-0 victors and put us in the final against one of the oldest football clubs in Great Britain, The Corinthian Casuals.
The final was again a good game of football in which our defence did well and subsequently created the platform for us to create chances up front and with some excellent work by our midfield and forwards, we ran out 1-0 victors.
St Peters FC have participated in this festival for four years and we have won the plate on three occasions.
